Honor Those Who Served in World War II During the Star Spangled Spectacular
2019 marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day – a major turning point in World War Two. Charleston sisters Gracie & Lacy have ensured that a local commemoration will take place to honor the memory of those who served during the war by incorporating the historic event into their Piccolo Spoleto Festival performances.
“Star-Spangled Spectacular” take place on June 7th and 8th at the Queen St. Playhouse and will feature the hope-filled music of the 1940s that stood in stark contrast to the uncertainty of a world at war. On the heels of rave reviews in New York City, the harmonizing duo will once again sing and tap dance to the accompaniment of The Legends Band, who recently traveled with them to the Big Apple as ambassadors of Charleston’s music scene.
Audiences wait with bated breath to see internationally recognized jazz diva, Maggie Worlsdale, and the 2019 Great American Songbook Star, Annalisa Blevins who are featured guests in the show. With glittering costumes designed by Lacy, choreography by Gracie, charming humor, and fascinating history, the show promises to be an engaging experience for the whole family.
All U.S. Veterans will be honored in the show, and it is not uncommon to see military uniforms and 1940s attire in the audience, so don your 1940s garb and be a part of preserving history!
