Explore Old Charleston Homes When You Attend the Tradd Street House and Garden Tour

For 43 years, the Preservation Society of Charleston has opened some of the most exquisite homes and gardens in America to their guests. On Saturday, October 26th, the Preservation Society welcomes the community to the Tradd Street House and Garden Tour. This tour gives access to a collection of houses reflecting the evolution of Charleston's superb architecture from some of the oldest to those of the 20th century and creating a delightful historic streetscape.

Adapted for a 21st-century lifestyle, the houses included in the Tradd Street House and Garden Tour show how Southerners have lived for centuries. Built during prosperous colonial days through and beyond the antebellum period, the properties on this tour attest to a time when successful maritime merchants had shops and offices on the first floor and private residences above. This tour includes the interiors of private houses.

Each residence in the Old and Historic District— built in Colonial days and the 20th century—tells its own story. Docents at each site will greet you and share the rich history of those who lived there while pointing out significant architectural and fine decorative art details.

The Preservation Society of Charleston is dedicated to recognizing, protecting, and advocating for the Lowcountry’s historic places. One of the most important aspects of the Society’s work is participating in public meetings where decisions are made that affect not only Charleston’s historic districts but also how the built environment of the city at large takes shape and functions.

Spend your Saturday soaking up the beauty of Old Charleston during the Tradd Street House and Garden Tour, presented by the Preservation Society of Charleston. Tickets for the Tradd Street House and Garden Tour start at $50 and are available for purchase at www.preservationsociety.org.
